2014 Little Italy - Burlington, VT

Unveiling of the Little Italy Timeline

On Thursday, October 23rd, at the Burlington Town Center, the Vermont Italian Club hosted  “Before the Mall,” an event to unveil the historical timeline of Burlington’s Little Italy Neighborhood. Guest speakers included Frank Cain, former Mayor of Burlington during Urban Renewal; Bill Truex, architect and former Burlington Commission Member; Diana Colangelo, Economic Development Specialist for the Community; and more.

The video below, "Before the Mall," was produced by James Gero as part of The Artful Word series of Burlington's CCTV Channel 17. (The video begins at ~ 00:49)
Below are three video links that will take you to a series or memories and reflections by Italian-Americans who grew up in Burlington's "Little Italy" neighborhood. These videos have been produced by the staff and friends of Channel 17, Town Meeting Television through the dedicated efforts of John Varricchione, a VIC director, who grew up in "the old neighborhood" with a keen desire to preserve its memories and who has manged this effort for more than three years.
Many thanks to James Gero who provided video editing services.
