Welcome to the Vermont Italian Cultural Association (VICA)
VICA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization with a mission of discussing, learning, sharing and celebrating the cultural heritage of Italy and Italian-Americans. Our club brings to the Vermont community educational events and activities that foster an intimacy with Italy through the people who love her. Whether by travel to Italy, the study of the Italian language, or through the love of Italian film, art or literature, or food/cooking, club members share their experiences through a variety of club activities and events.
Burlington, Vermont, where the organization is centered, once had a “Little Italy” neighborhood as well as the more well-known Italian communities in Barre and Rutland. Many of the Italian homes and businesses that constituted a large tract of downtown Burlington in the area of Battery and Pearl streets were replaced in the urban renewal projects of the 1950’s and 1960’s, and “Little Italy” gradually gave way to urban renewal. Today VICA seeks to revive the spirit of that Italian populace and neighborhood to honor their contributions to Burlington, Vermont's Queen City.
To further our educational mission, in the Fall of 2013, VICA donated three outdoor interpretive signs to the City of Burlington which the city installed in the "old neighborhood." Go here for more information.
We welcome new members to the Vermont Italian Club.
